Mission: | To join people together from all corners of San Diego to package non-perishable meals to feed the hungry locally and in countries where people battle malnutrition and starvation. More than 4,000 faithful of all ages from the San Diego diocese packed 1 million meals in the inaugural 2022 event. They reached impoverished families just across the border and around the world. The Diocese has set its sights on packing 1.5 million meals this June. |
How to help: | Volunteer (children, teens, and adults) to work 1 or more shifts to package, seal, and box the meals. We need 4,000 volunteers to pack one million meals for children facing extreme poverty. Each volunteer must register individually at https://sdcatholic.org/event/million-meals/, including children ages 12 and greater. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Please also email Deacon Peter at deaconpeter@stjames-stleo.com that you’re coming, so he can coordinate the “St. James – St. Leo team”. If you can’t make it in person, you can also support by donating at the website. |
Time it takes: | Shifts are typically 2.5 to 3 hours. |
Contact: | Diocese website at https://sdcatholic.org/event/million-meals/, and Deacon Peter Hodsdon at deaconpeter@stjames-stleo.com |
